DEAR DIARY ;

Note : The flu that is going around now is not called Swine Flu but H1N1.

As reported on Wednesday, 27 May 09 by Channel NewsAsia, Singapore now has a actual case of someone being infected with H1N1.

"Singapore's first H1N1 patient is an SMU student" - (Click for Article)

The infected patient is apparently a 3rd year Business Management Student who have been to New York Business Study Mission. She went to visit a doctor because she felt unwell and have been confirmed to be infected with the H1N1 Virus.

But before you go into the red alert mode, feeling paranoid when you are outside, no worries. The 2 others whom returned with her are now quarantined and I believe in MOH's efficiency to source out the rest of the passengers on the plane, run a check on them and quarantine them.

In fact, I am just living as per normal. I believe Singapore is very ready to deal with the virus now that we had weeks of preparation already. :)

A day later on Thursday, 28 May 09 by Channel NewsAsia, Singapore's Health Minster responded by saying that "H1N1 no cause of alarm" to reassure the people.

'We had weeks to prepare' (Click for Article)

Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan said: "We know that sooner or later we will have our first case (of H1N1 flu) and now we do. I suppose we have been lucky —— we have now five weeks since the alert to prepare ourselves, as well as Singaporeans for this eventuality. So there should really be no cause for alarm.

“Especially in this case the patient has been most responsible and the GP is highly commendable. (The GP) made the right judgment —— calling 993 so that within six hours of (the patient’s) touchdown in Singapore, she was isolated in the hospital, so the risk of her causing a spread in Singapore should be very low."

Singaporeans are reminded to maintain high standards of personal hygiene. This means covering your nose and mouth with a tissue when you sneeze or cough, and washing your hand frequently with soap and water, especially after contact with respiratory secretions, for example, after sneezing and coughing.

For more information on Influenza A (H1N1—2009), you can access MOH’s website at www.moh.gov.sg, call MOH’s hotline at 1800—333 9999, or visit www.flu.gov.sg.

So do take care people and remember to visit the doctor if you are unwell!:)

DEAR DIARY ;

I brought Abbey out with me today and we had really a good time taking nice shots.

Abbey is actually rather fat for a camera but I love how comfortable it is in my hands. I wished that the film would never run out because I hate it when I have to load new box of film whenever the 10 inside finish! So troublesome!

Went over to eat with the cousins @ Manpuku ( Okay, stop saying I'm a spoilt brat!) , met Leonard the dough nut coincidentally, and I regretted not fishing out my canon to take a picture with him. It has been so long since I last saw him you know!

Pictures up tomorrow ( if I am free)
Good night. I am dead tired. I need to sleep to clear those eye bags.

P.S : Thank God for Wednesdays! :)

DEAR DIARY ;

Today is a very special day - It's the birthday of two of my dearly loved sister in Christ ;

There's this girl that I came to know better recently this year. My first impression of her was shy and quiet but SURPRISE SURPRISE SURPRISE ; she was as loud, noisy , funny and adorable like us! We had a great time during SM/ST camp laughing at ourselves and our own internal joke.

It is always a joy being around her and I always loved the way she can easily take up a guitar and start strumming with us singing at the background. But I hope the next time we camp together, she won't laugh until she almost have an asthma attack! Heh! ;p

Happy Birthday Naomi.

May all your days be filled with so much joy and laughter.
P/S : Know that I love you! :)

Praying that even though the road is long, your faith will not be shaken but will be even more rooted.

-

And Maggie!
She is so motherly! Haha! Compliment okay. She is always always there to care and encouraged and seeing her proceeding from a senior in my school to a stinter with Campus Crusade gives me so much joy! Her step of faith to go and serve God full time despites her earlier plan of being a wedding planner and what's not just showed all of us how deep is her love and trust in God.

Happy Birthday Mag!

May God give you the strength and wisdom that you need as you begin your journey as a stinter! :) We'll be cheering you on throughout and be witnesses to your graduation at Solead! :)

Last but not least,
to all the SOLEAD GRADUATES last night...

" YAY, YOU HAVE ALL GRADUATED "
The journey is long, but press on. It's all worth it!

DEAR DIARY ;

I have decided to name this : Abbey
It means " Gives Joy" and "Beautiful"

And I think it does both. :) It gives me joy to see smiles through the camera, and beautiful it is already.

DEAR DIARY ;

I know I am very late in blogging this, but this was the "surprise" birthday for Pang Cheng , although I wished and wished and wished he would have it at Macs. I miss birthday parties at Macs. :(

Anyway, I guess he was a pretty much happy and blessed boy that day because nice, wonderful and lovely us took time off to go celebrate for him, surprise him and tried to make it as special as we could (right!).

Got him a chocolate cake from Miranda (quite a good bakery shop) , especially the egg tarts! ;p Upon closer look, the retard and the cake are of the same color sia! Time to use whitening cream already Pang Cheng, if not confirm next time you'll look like dark chocolate! Haha!

This is the way you eat your cake, eat your cake, eat your cake~~
The not very innovative way of eating - using chopsticks, because we have forgotten to get serviettes :/ But when you will halfway through the cake, you would realize how disgusting and unglam it is.

And you see, you see...the guys are on such a good term that they are feeding each other cake! So cute right! It was a moment not to be missed, thanks to my very skilled photo timing, we got the shot! ;p Speaking of which, I am so tempted to get myself a new camera * IT fair , please arrive faster! *

If you are wondering what he's doing, he's actually making a wish and the tallest standing candle actually plays the birthday song melody. Very loud and embarrassing! Tsk! :0 Because the place was air-conditioned, we had to cover the cake with our hands to prevent our cake candles from being blown out! :/

Cake shop auntie gave me a balloon when I purchased the cake but apparently I don't really know how to deal with it. Giam and the rest said that it was a bomb balloon..which means it would explode when you throw in on the ground, like bomb bags. All of us steered clear while Pang Cheng and Giam went on exploring on how to deal with it.

I was so afraid that it would explode because I hate loud noises!

But ya, in the end, the explosion didn't happened. Giam went to step on it till it explode. Very bad, because the explosion scared a few kids nearby!

Went to explore Tamp 1 together after that because some kuku ( I forgot who) claims that he haven't been there. We ended up playing at the arcade but I didn't get to play my basket ball game. So upset! I know I am upset because I can remember till now when its like 1month ago ( almost).

& the above photo was taken at the CCTV in the Disney shop. Cool right! Can you spot the 3 retards there?! Haha!

All in all, it was rather fun ; I think Pang Cheng enjoyed.
I think he cried himself to bed that day because he was overly touched by his nice friends gestures and even more overwhelmed by our magic on him. (:

Fyi, that little imp turned 19 that day. So that makes him an older man already.

Cannot imagine them going into NS.
P/S : Hope they go in @ all different times! (Fingers crossed)

DEAR DIARY ;

When I saw the Family Day Out Blogging Contest, I saw it as a good opportunity to win some attraction venue tickets for the family to go and bond together.

Taken during Chinese New Year.

Taken during Mom's Auntie's birthday.

It has been a long while since the family went out together.
While it is common to have a whole big gathering with the cousins, aunties and uncles, it was really rare for the family to go out and spend time together to the extent that sometimes I wonder if I really know them the way I think I should as a daughter or a sister.

Taken at our Batam Trip (without my brother)

Taken at Grand dad's place

Ever since my brother got into secondary school, we haven't been on a holiday together. It has always been just my parents and me that at times it would really feel as though I was the only child. I know people would say that that is a good thing but then again, it isn't really because I LOVE MY BROTHER OKAY!

Anyway, since I haven't been spending time with my brother I thought it was better if I asked him where he would like to go so that IF I win, he would tag along and not give some excuses saying that "the place isn't his cup of tea" Heh! ;p And he told me " Singapore Flyer, Singapore Flyer lah!"

I wished for a day specially set aside for the family and the 3 others that I have thought of already.If I win, I would bring my family (that would be 4 of us), my grand dad, my eldest aunt and Gideon.

I even have the day's program dreamt out already!!!!

During the day, we would sleep in till a little later since we are always burnt out during most of the days with work and school. We could watch a little television drama or go for some morning exercise together. My last excerise time with the family was when I was in Secondary 1 which is like 7 years ago and I really missed it. As much as I could bug, time just wouldn't work for us. We could book the badminton court and go for a game together, and compete in groups. My grand dad can join us too (don't play play, he's fit for his age!)

My Grand dad and Me! Told you he is still very fit already. Never bluff you right!

Singapore Marriott Hotel

Then in the afternoon, we could go for some cozy wonderful lunch buffet at Marriott Hotel with ample time for us to share with each other of our burdens or just simply stuffs that we want to. Maybe it was because we were young in the past, so our parents do not tell us much about their problems. But now that we are like 16 and 19 respectively, I believe that we are old enough to help share some burdens off their back. Even if we cannot help them, at least we can keep them in prayer and be there for them. So for the family day, I wished that the family would be able to find a conducive place for lunch preferably buffet, so that we can eat and talk for a long time and share with each other stuffs that we usually don't and be really open about everything.

Someone in my previous church once told me that " A harmonious family is a family is one that is honest and open " and I live by that.

Taken by VS IT HUB-2005

In the late afternoon, I can imagine us walking down the esplanade taking family photos, couple photos and sibling shoots. I can imagine us bring our grandpa along and although his dialect isn't exactly what we could converse fluently with, I can still see all of us sitting at the Starbucks sipping iced chocolate and latte or munching on brownies and enjoy the beauty of Singapore together and the breeze. And if we are lucky enough, manage to get a picture with grand dad. * Grand dad is quite particular about taking pictures. Maybe it those old people thoughts *

When its late evening, we would all be eagerly queuing up, scanning our bags and anticipating our ride on the Singapore Flyer, geared with our cameras and thinking up of poses to take photos. I can imagine us with big wide grin smiling at the beauties of God's creations together and then ending the day with dinner at Popeyes (dad's favorite!).

And if everyone is not tired and still feeling very active and awake, we would ride down to the nearest cinema to catch a movie before supper and then home sweet home.

To remember this wonderful day for the rest of our lifetime we would pose for a group picture, send it for developing and frame it up to be hang on the wall somewhere in the house and maybe one day when we were older, few years down the road we would be able to still admire the picture and say " Wow, I was so glad we did that." and then keep having family gatherings and bonding sessions for the years to come because we enjoyed the one that we had before.

Although the whole day event planned out may seem simple and not that costly or like a big thing at all, I guess its the companion that matters the most and not the price we paying for the day. Like the song goes.."Money can't buy happiness..." Ultimately, its all their smiles that matters. By then I believed all the tiredness will slowly be evaded out while happiness seeps in to remain.

NOW THAT I HAVE DREAMT OF IT, I CANNOT WAIT FOR IT TO HAPPEN!!!:):):)
I cannot imagine for these to happen BUT I believe in miracles and I believe that I can make it happen somehow! :) And I know it would feel incredible and be a whole new indescribable experience that is shared.

Wishing all of you out that a very blessed family filled with more joy than the heart can contain. (:
This would have to be life's simple pleasure! Priceless!

DEAR DIARY ;

As I alighted from the bus, I heard this familiar melody that I seemed to hear before....

I walked nearer and nearer to where the melody was from and spotted the blind busker playing his harmonica. Although he didn't had any facial expression on his face, I heard joy from the melody.

The blind busker had been there for a long time, but each time I was near the place he was at, I was either busy doing something else or hurrying to get to another place..or maybe simply just tired that I heard nothing just wanting to reach home early.

I stood there for quite a while just to listen, and I realize how many time I was in a hurry that I did not stop to enjoy a minute of the beautiful melody..a melody that is now a part of my memory.

Thank God for beautiful music !

DEAR DIARY ;

I was happily in school thinking of how I have done so much work that I can officially rest on the weekends. I couldn't help but smile at the thought of having rest time and enjoyment time after so long.

But all hopes were tarnished when I spotted this in my student mail - AYG (5 assignments to be completed) and the deadlines. I feel like screaming. My weekends just flew pass in my sight. I cannot do anything but shrug my shoulders and bury myself under countless research again.

Pictures up soon when I got the time to sit down and sort them out.

P/S : My mind just waved the white flag.

DEAR DIARY ;

Before I forget, today is my brother's birthday.
so yes, Happy Blessed 16th.

I thank God for you although we always quarrel and fight and whats not. the typical things that sibling does, we have done it all.

But it made me realize too that its only you who have seen who I really am...I can be as unglam and as fat as I want in front of you and don't bother and I can cry like a baby and whine without worrying. I just want to say thank you for being a part of my life (although sometimes you have been terrible).
I enjoy simple moments of chit chats with you, mini pillow fights, or even watching you hardworkingly burning midnight oil. I enjoyed your companion, I enjoy having you in my midst so that I would never be alone. I love it when you speak your rare words of concerns.

You are now 16th, years flew by just like that. You no longer need me to help you pack your bag, or to remind you or stuffs...you are so independent now that I don't know how to help. You have passion for your aspirations and I've seen you working towards it..I'm proud of you, truly am although deep down I wished you could take those time to draw nearer to God, to let God make a difference.

I just want to say, you've made a difference in my life (and hopefully, I have made a difference in yours too). I know we aren't from a very affectionate family with our words or hugs...but I really love you. truly do.

all the best for your O levels and thank you for shining so brightly.

given a choice again, I would still want you in my life. You have been awesome....and I look forward to seeing how God is going to use you for his kingdom sake in time to come. Hope you would realize that the most beautiful things that you've have done are not the things for your glory but God's glory.
